COURSE INFORMATION

SESSION 1

This is where we get to know each other. You share your health goals and health history. I listen deeply and take a lot of notes. We agree on how to best work together.  

SESSION 2

What are the recurring complaints about your health? We will take that complaint and disrupt its pattern in your life.

SESSION 3

Whether you are a deep sleeper or on the verge of insomniac, this session will teach you about the importance of circadian rhythm and how to achieve optimum sleep/wake cycles. 

SESSION 4

Do you have consistent eating patterns or do you eat haphazardly? This week we will establish healthy eating rhythms that heal digestion and improve the absorption of food.

SESSION 5

We can’t win our day if our bodily systems are not functioning properly. This week we will learn how to develop proper hydration and do away with painful, irregular eliminations.

SESSION 6

Our mindset and energy improve when we take in fresh oxygen and move our bodies. Explore how specific movement practices best support your body type.

SESSION 7

Eating fruits and vegetables not only keeps the body healthy and lean, it keeps us energized too. Discover how eating a colorful diet increases the immune system and builds energy in the body. 

SESSION 8

Do you suffer from endless mind chatter? Do you have racing thoughts that just won’t stop? Learn how to ground your thoughts and ease the incessant chatter of the mind.

SESSION 9

In our modern, hectic, fast-paced life it is easy to suffer from an overactive nervous system. The constant fight, flight and freeze response leads to a weakened adrenal system. Learn how to soothe anxiety and calm the nervous system.

SESSION 10

Did you know that you are most influenced by the 5 closest people in your life? Be intentional about your community and build up your support system in intentional ways to ensure positive, life-giving people surround you.

I was 35 when I started developing an array of symptoms. I was anxious, irritable and unable to sleep at night, although every part of my body was screaming for sleep. I worked in an intense, demanding job where I pushed myself beyond my limits everyday. My husband and I would bicker and fight almost constantly. I felt sick with a low immune system and tired very frequently. And then, all of a sudden, my voice started to repeatedly break like a teenager going through puberty. Those breaks in my voice eventually grew into tremors. The world was spinning around me in an uncontrollable way. What was happening to me?

I later learned that I had developed a speaking disorder called Spasmodic Dysphonia, a rare genetic disease that affects the vocal cords. Without the assurance of a reliable speaking voice, the ability to perform my high-pressure job at a local advertising agency became difficult. The stress of my newly discovered disorder furthered my anxiety, insomnia and irritability. To top it all off, I started to develop digestion related issues.

 

Determined to get healthy and reverse my symptoms, I plunged headfirst into discovering my body’s healing potential. I started practicing yoga, meditating, deepening my prayer and Scripture time, journaling, increasing my fruit and vegetable intake and doing just about everything in my power to support my health. As a former personal trainer and marathon runner, my newfound love of yoga led me to get my yoga certification and became a yoga instructor. While I made small gains in my health, I was not getting the results I desired. A big shift happened in the summer of 2016 when I was introduced to Ayurveda (Ay-ur-veda) through a meditation series offered by Oprah and Deepak Chopra. I was curious about this 5-thousand-year-old philosophy and how it could heal my body.

 

After incorporating this ancient wisdom into my life, I have been able to move my body from insomnia to deep sleep. From anxious to grounded. From bloated to a healthy, flat stomach. From an unhealthy caffeine dependency to stimulant free. And from irritable to patient - truth be told, I am still working on this one! 

I consider it an honor and a privilege to bring the wisdom of Ayurveda to stressed out, overwhelmed, overscheduled, tired and burned out women. Women who work intense schedules both inside and outside the home. Women who are raising children who often put the needs of others in front of themselves. Women who desperately want to connect to the healing potential of their body. May my health crisis and road back to wellness serve as an example that vibrant health, deep sleep and a calm mind is possible for you too.
