Many of my clients come to me burned out, exhausted, overwhelmed and sad. They have tried various ways to alleviate their distress and none seem to have long-term staying power.

 

Getting at the root of the matter is necessary to change our patterns. And if we are unaware of what is driving us – then how can we take new actions?

This my specialty. I dive deep into my client’s story to uncover the mindsets that are fueling their

actions. Once we are unable to uncover the underlying causes of their actions, it becomes much

easier to take new actions. 

And in many cases, they don’t need to leave their jobs or husbands or recreate their lives to get the results they want.

They learn to find their voices and establish healthy boundaries so that they can powerfully

ask for the things they need, feeling safe and empowered along the way.

I was 35 when I started developing an array of symptoms. I was anxious, irritable and unable to sleep at night, although every part of my body was screaming for sleep. I worked in an intense, demanding job where I pushed myself beyond my limits everyday. My husband and I would bicker and fight almost constantly. I felt sick with a low immune system and tired very frequently. And then, all of a sudden, my voice started to repeatedly break like a teenager going through puberty. Those breaks in my voice eventually grew into tremors. The world was spinning around me in an uncontrollable way. What was happening to me?

I later learned that I had developed a speaking disorder called Spasmodic Dysphonia, a rare genetic disease that affects the vocal cords. Without the assurance of a reliable speaking voice, the ability to perform my high-pressure job at a local advertising agency became difficult. The stress of my newly discovered disorder furthered my anxiety, insomnia and irritability. To top it all off, I started to develop digestion related issues.

 

Determined to get healthy and reverse my symptoms, I plunged headfirst into discovering my body’s healing potential. I started practicing yoga, meditating, deepening my prayer and Scripture time, journaling, increasing my fruit and vegetable intake and doing just about everything in my power to support my health. As a former personal trainer and marathon runner, my newfound love of yoga led me to get my yoga certification and became a yoga instructor. While I made small gains in my health, I was not getting the results I desired. A big shift happened in the summer of 2016 when I was introduced to Ayurveda (Ay-ur-veda) through a meditation series offered by Oprah and Deepak Chopra. I was curious about this 5-thousand-year-old philosophy and how it could heal my body.

 

After incorporating this ancient wisdom into my life, I have been able to move my body from insomnia to deep sleep. From anxious to grounded. From bloated to a healthy, flat stomach. From an unhealthy caffeine dependency to stimulant free. And from irritable to patient - truth be told, I am still working on this one! 

Once my body was in a healthier state, I realized that I was not on purpose in my life. For many years, my dream had been to support women on their wellness journeys so they could live lives that they loved. Now that I was in balance in my own life, I felt like I was able to step into this dream.  With some courage, I went part time in my job in 2017 so I could focus on becoming a coach and learn how to master the craft of coaching.

 

I consider it an honor and a privilege to deeply serve women who are stressed out, overwhelmed, tired and burned out. Women who work intense schedules both inside and outside the home. Women who often put the needs of others in front of herself. May my journey and road back to wellness serve as an example that this is possible for you too.
